Heading over to 1st rotation with the competing 7s today, the bars area needed some geographical clean up. There was a heavy floor beam that needed to be moved out of the way and I lifted and moved one end, setting it down back in the beam area; as I walked over to move the other end, I sensed Erin's movement toward it as well. I headed her off at the pass, saying, "It's okay, Erin. I have it. Thanks for the thought, though."
Zoe, standing next to Erin as I walk by them, and having made no attempt to offer me assistance in moving the beam, quips thusly: "I saw that you got it."

Zoe's improved handspring vault
When I first started working with her newbie 7 group, Zoe's tendency seemed to be a lack of body inversion. She would punch the board and drop her arms toward the table rather than shoot her arms up to her ears and drive her heels for rotation. Back then, she was starting with the vault table on 110. She's been doing 120 of late; and today we brought the table up to 125 (Note: Higher setting does not mean more potential for a better vault; the girls always seem to perceive a higher setting as a status symbol- like they're big kids, now if their setting is higher).
One thing I'll comment on to Zoe: When leaving the table, follow through with the block by "pointing" your fingertips and not keep the hands flat (Think if you are on your feet and you want to jump high, would you jump and keep your feet flexed, without extension into a toe point off the floor?). And no head movement: Spot the table a bit longer with eye contact on the hands while leaving the table. Here's one drill Wade showed me on the floor for heel drive off the springboard (Filmed 2 yrs ago):
It's to help with arm circle, hurdling feet in front, and heel-driving off the board. I had the idea to try it against the wall so the gymnasts could practice locking into a solid shape with full extension through the shoulders. My fear was the gymnasts not being able to find the right distance from the wall and right amount of force to end freezing at an angle that was not too steep (I could just picture someone going splat!). Everyone seemed to handle it pretty well. I think we only tried it one day, but I like it (we don't always have access to the wall space as a return station). Here is Zoe demonstrating my add-on to Wade's drill (filmed a month or two ago):
